first of all, take not of italian licence plate , then go to aci.it , search for visura or visure(plural) , you will spend about 8-10 euro and You will get the italian equivalent of the certififie de non gage.

take 2-3 copies of italian documents, for safety.
with all the documents you can go to france and get new licence plates.
